Peoria Zoo Map and Brochure (2014 – 2025)

Location: Peoria, Illinois

Years Active: 1955 – Active

Welcome to Peoria Zoo – it’s no paradise, but it’s got its charms. This place has been around since ’55, so expect older exhibits alongside the new. It’s small, so plan on a half-day visit, tops. But hey, that means you can really focus on the highlights.

Animals are the stars here (obviously). Zambezi River Village is the best bet for lively critters. African Savanna’s a little hit or miss – if the lions are napping, it’s kinda boring. Tropics is cool if you like reptiles.

Skip the crowds and hit the zoo first thing in the morning. Animals are more active then, and you might even get a peek at behind-the-scenes feeding time. Festivals like Boo at the Zoo are surprisingly fun, but be warned: they get PACKED.

Peoria Zoo’s all about getting up close and learning. It won’t blow your mind, but if you love animals and want a relaxed day out, it delivers.
