In 2025, the Gladys Porter Zoo introduced the Soaring Eagle Zipline in July as part of its 10-year Master Plan. The zoo also announced upcoming projects including a new lion habitat, expanded amenities, and a reimagined sensory-friendly Small World area. As part of construction efforts, the Ridley Rush event was cancelled, animals near the project site were temporarily relocated, and the zoo closed early on April 10 to support the zipline build.
