The Kings Dominion Virginia Theme Park is a 400 – acre family Park that is situated in Doswell Virginia. This amusement park was opened in 1975 and it contains a number of attractions including a 20-acre water park, 15 roller coasters, live family entertainment and 60 rides. It derives its name from its sister park, the Kings Island, and the State of Virginia’s nickname – “Old Dominion”

The park can be found at Exit 98 on Interstate 95, about 2hours from the Washington DC (75 miles South) and 20 miles north of Richmond.
Check out the WaterWorks which features many of the park’s renowned attractions and water rides. Some of these include the 65-ft tall slide tower that has three electrifying attractions, each of them providing thrilling riding experiences.
The DinosaursAlive features close to 40 animatronic dinosaurs in a magnificent outdoor forest setting. This interactive and multi-sensory attraction point allows tourists to go back in time to prehistoric periods between 250 and 60 million years ago.
Experience The Delirium, which is a swinging pendulum that can hold 40 riders side by side to shoulder in a huge circle facing outward. A rider can soar as high as 110 feet in the air and be suspended at an angle of about 120 degrees at its peak.
Among the most outstanding coasters is the formidable Intimidator 305, which theme is based on the late race car driver Dale Earnhardt. The Intimidator 305 has an awesome 300-ft drop and stunning twists in the track. There is also the Volcano Blast Coaster, which is an inverted launch coaster and known to be the longest inversion on any coaster (a rollout of 155 feet).
The park also offers shopping, live entertainment and a variety of dining options – this includes a range of choices for vegetarians and other people with specific dietary needs.
Buy your tickets in advance so as to avoid the long lines at the park. In addition schedule your visit on a weekday because the park is usually crowded on the holidays and the weekends.
