Opened in 1987, the Weeks Air Museum is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of aircraft from the beginning of flight through the end of the World War II era. The unique museum displays over 20 vintage aircraft, most maintained in flying condition, along with a wide variety of engines and propellers; the collection includes a Boeing B-29 Superfortress, Grumman J2F-6 Duck, Grumman TBM Avenger, and more. The Museum is unique in that most of these aircraft are maintained in flying condition. Also on display are models, video-booths, and a gift shop. Group tours and plane rides are offered; special events are scheduled throughout the year. Located at the Tamiami Airport, open daily. This museum closed in 2001.
