Carowinds SCarowinds Map (2025-2024)
Charlotte’s Carowinds has a strange claim to fame—you’re walking haunted trails in North Carolina one minute and riding coasters that dive into South Carolina the next. That two-state setup makes SCarowinds one of the only Halloween events where crossing a state line is part of the scare. Since 2000, the park has turned into a full-scale haunt after dark, with fog-choked mazes and roaming scare zones that hit harder than your average regional Halloween attraction.

In 2024, SCarowinds admission was included with the regular Carowinds daytime ticket, eliminating the need for a separate purchase and removing the closure between daytime and evening operations. New daytime seasonal events were added, including Tricks and Treats and Oktoberfest.
The Aeronautica Landing area introduced its first scare zone, Lobotomy’s Oddities. Additionally, the event operated with two fewer scare zones than 2023, but each existing zone featured an increased number of scare actors.

FAQ
Is SCarowinds separate from Carowinds?
SCarowinds is Carowinds’ annual Halloween event that transforms the park into a haunted attraction at night. The event is not a separate park, but an evening experience within Carowinds requiring special admission. Regular daytime operations end before SCarowinds begins, and season passes or SCarowinds tickets grant access.
Do you have to leave Carowinds before SCarowinds?
Carowinds day guests must exit the park before SCarowinds starts, as the park closes briefly to prepare for the nighttime event. Guests attending SCarowinds can re-enter with valid event admission after the transition period. Season Pass holders may stay in the park during the turnover without leaving.
Does Carowinds gold pass get you into SCarowinds?
Carowinds Gold Pass provides entry to SCarowinds, but haunted house mazes require an additional fee. The pass allows access to the event and the park during SCarowinds dates; maze admission is not included and must be purchased separately.
How much do SCarowinds actors get paid?
SCarowinds actors typically earn between $12 and $16 per hour. Pay rates can vary based on experience, role, and seasonal demand within the park. Some specialty performers may receive higher wages during peak event nights.
Is SCarowinds too scary for kids?
SCarowinds is not recommended for children under 13 due to its intense scares, haunted mazes, and frightening atmosphere. Younger kids may be overwhelmed by the special effects and live actors throughout the park. Carowinds offers other seasonal events for family-friendly fun instead of SCarowinds.
