Disney’s Discovery Island

Originally known as Treasure Island, the park sits on the Disney World property. Opened in 1974, the attraction largely boasted animals and was recognized as a zoological park. After the Animal Kingdom opened, Discovery Island was closed in 1999 and it’s part of the park still remains closed to visitors today.
