In 2023, ICON Park Orlando introduced and retired several major attractions. The Wheel debuted “The Great Florida Road Trip,” a new interactive game experience in April. Earlier in the year, the Wheel temporarily closed for maintenance following a power loss incident that stranded riders.

Additionally, the Orlando FreeFall drop tower, previously shuttered, was fully dismantled in March, marking its permanent removal from the park’s lineup.

What happened in ICON Park?

Investigations revealed the ride’s safety restraints had been improperly adjusted, leading to the incident and subsequent lawsuits against the ride operator and manufacturer. The FreeFall ride was permanently closed and dismantled one year later in response to the tragedy.​
