In 2025, Brevard Zoo underwent several key changes. Expedition Africa closed for renovations from August 7 to October 6. The zoo itself shut down October 9–10 due to Hurricane Milton, reopening on October 11. On November 16, the permanent lion habitat debuted along with a new Okapi Encounter and refreshed kayaking tour. Additionally, an Eastern Bongo calf was born November 12. Plans to begin construction on the Bowen Aquarium were delayed in 2025 due to funding issues.
