In 2025, Potter Park Zoo experienced several defining changes. A new Animal Health Facility is scheduled to open in late 2025, bringing advanced veterinary care and public education opportunities. On July 5, 2025, red panda Maliha gave birth to a cub, marking the arrival of a new animal. However, the zoo also lost Doppsee, its female black rhino, who was euthanized following medical decline. Pathways closed in May 2025 for a water main project but fully reopened by June 5.
