The Jackson Zoo ain’t gonna win any beauty contests. It’s kinda old, kinda small, and let’s be honest, some of the exhibits could use an upgrade. But I like it that way. Shows they put their money towards what really matters – taking care of the animals.
You won’t find a ton of fancy distractions here. It’s about seeing cool critters up close. Maybe the lion is having a lazy day, sprawled out in the sun. Maybe the monkeys are going absolutely wild, swinging all over the place. It’s a gamble, and that’s part of the fun.
The staff here are the real deal. If you see a keeper talk going on, stop and listen. They know their stuff and genuinely love these animals. Also, come hungry – the food’s surprisingly decent for a zoo!
