Detroit Zoo Map and Brochure (2025 – 2019)
Location: Royal Oak, Michigan
Years Active: 1928 – Active
The Detroit Zoo isn’t your grandma’s animal park. It’s been teaching kids and adults about the wild world since 1928. Forget cages – they build whole worlds for their animals. Explore the Arctic, Africa, even Australia! You’ll see creatures you won’t find anywhere else in Michigan. They care about saving endangered beasties too – they even breed some of them.
Want more than staring at animals? The Detroit Zoo has festivals all year round. Their holiday lights show is totally magical. Get nerdy at the Wildlife Conservation Festival if that’s your thing. Over a million people visit each year, so you know it’s good!
Parking can be rough. Get there SUPER early or try side streets near the zoo. The further you walk, the cheaper it gets.
Detroit Zoo Map 2025
The most significant Detroit Zoo Map 2025 updates feature the announcement of Discovery Trails, a $20 million, seven-acre expansion that will bring new immersive habitats for animals like alpacas, bamboo sharks, burrowing owls, bush dogs, and stingrays. Discovery Trails will also include up-close animal encounters, a Canopy Trail elevated 14 feet above ground, sensory-friendly quiet spaces, and expanded educational programs, with completion expected in 2026.
