Dinosaur World Kentucky Map and Brochure (2010)

Location: Cave City, Kentucky

Years Active: 2003 – Active

Dinosaur World Kentucky is part of a trio of dinosaur-themed outdoor parks in the United States, with sister locations in Plant City, Florida, and Glen Rose, Texas. Each park, including the one in Cave City, Kentucky, showcases over 150 life-size dinosaur sculptures, masterfully crafted by Christer Svensson. The Kentucky location opened its doors five years after the Florida park debuted in November 1998, followed by the Texas park another five years later.

What sets these parks apart is the naturalistic setting in which the dinosaur statues are placed. The life-size sculptures, made from carved polystyrene foam, fiberglass, and textured putty, are situated among native plants and water features to emulate a prehistoric environment. The parks also feature vegetation from the dinosaur era, identified with informative signs.

Families find these parks particularly engaging due to the array of child-friendly activities. There are playgrounds, picnic areas (as guests are encouraged to bring their own food), and the popular “Fossil Dig,” where children can unearth real fossils and take home their finds.

New dinosaur replicas are added annually, with about three new additions each year, ensuring the parks remain fresh and exciting. Visitors explore Dinosaur World along a boardwalk, encountering iconic dinosaurs like Stegosaurus, Brontosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus rex, all set amidst the lush backdrop of marshes and native trees like cypress and gum. The Kentucky park, with its unique geographical features, offers a distinctive experience within the shared concept of the Dinosaur World theme parks.
