Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo… it’s a weird concept, right? Australia in Kentucky? But it kind of works. Since 1990, it’s been a quirky stop for families and animal lovers. Expect kangaroos, sure, but also Kentucky critters you might know better. Want to pet a kangaroo? You can do that here.
They’ve got a cave too. You can take a tour – pretty cool if you like that underground thing. But be warned, those cave tours can get crowded. Here’s an insider tip: go on a weekday if you can, or hit the cave first thing in the morning to beat the rush.
The zoo throws some fun events. Nothing fancy, more like down-home festivals with music and stuff. Sometimes the animal shows feel a bit cheesy, but hey, the kids usually love them. Just know what you’re getting into – this isn’t some huge, polished zoo. It’s got a lot of heart, though, and that’s worth something.
